U.S. July Freight TSI Falls 0.7%, Passenger TSI Rises 0.4%
U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics data show the July 2026 Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) fell 0.7% from June and 2.0% from July 2025, after one month of growth. The Freight TSI measures the amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry. The Passenger TSI rose 0.4% in July from June, its third consecutive monthly increase, and rose 1.8% year over year to a new high for 2026, though still 5.6% below the all-time high in January 2020. The combined freight and passenger index fell 0.3% from June and 0.7% year over year.
