The 37th World Canal Conference will be held in Guilin
According to a report on October 9, 2026, the 37th World Canal Conference will be held in Guilin from October 12 to 15, 2026, jointly hosted by the Guilin Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government together with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Department of Transport and the Inland Waterways International (IWI), with the theme "Innovation and Persistence: Key Choices." The conference adopts a "1+4" model, featuring one opening ceremony and plenary session and four parallel sub-sessions on transport, ecology, water conservancy, and culture and tourism, along with three on-site inspection routes at Lingqu, the Li River, and the Pinglu Canal, with nearly 400 participants attending. The report currently shows that the conference preparations and agenda arrangements have been clarified, and no reports of post-conference outcomes or follow-up developments have yet been seen.
