BTS issues request for information to plan the next decade of transportation data

On October 27, 2026, the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) officially issued a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit input for the national transportation data plan for the next decade. The RFI is titled "Shaping the Future of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics" and focuses on six areas: product portfolio alignment, data gap identification, data utility and application, data architecture and technology integration, user experience and discovery, and strategic future and feedback loop. BTS is currently soliciting input publicly through this RFI, and subsequent developments have yet to be disclosed.
