Meadin Research: China Hotel Industry Development Report, August 2026

Meadin Research released its August 2026 China hotel industry report. 700 new hotels opened in August, with economy and midscale brands each exceeding 200; 64 hotels were auctioned, 27 at over RMB 100 million. OTA summer data show the lodging market shifting from volume growth to structural growth driven by length of stay, county-level upscale demand and themed experiences: Fliggy domestic room nights rose 66% year-on-year, Ctrip's share of guests staying 2+ nights rose from 38% to 64%, and Tujia's 7+ night living orders grew 21%.
