U.S. Airline Passenger Traffic Down 1.8% Year-Over-Year in July 2026

On October 9, 2026, the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released statistical data showing that scheduled passenger traffic on U.S. airline systems (domestic + international) in July 2026 was 90.5 million, down 1.8% year-over-year, below the record high for the same month set in July 2025 of 92.2 million. Domestic passenger traffic was 77.8 million, down 1.4% year-over-year; international passenger traffic was 12.7 million, down 4.2% year-over-year. After seasonal adjustment, July boardings were 79.2 million, down 1.0% month-over-month, and down 4.7% from the historical peak in June 2024.
