Fujian introduces measures to support Fuzhou's development into a modern international city

On October 26, 2026, the General Office of the Fujian Provincial People's Government issued the "Several Measures on Supporting Fuzhou in Accelerating the Building of a Modern International City," proposing support for Fuzhou to promote integrated cultural and tourism development and build a modern international city oriented toward the globe, the region, and both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The measures include promoting Fuzhou Airport and Xiamen Airport to jointly build an international aviation hub, supporting Fuzhou in opening new routes to countries along the "Maritime Silk Road" and expanding its intercontinental route network, as well as promoting Gushan Scenic Area and the Naval Administration Culture Scenic Area to strive for 5A-level tourist attraction status and supporting Changle District in building a national-level tourist resort. The document has now been issued, and the related initiatives have entered the implementation stage.
