On October 12, 2026, the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced that it has established an investigation working group to verify the matter of tourists being able to enter the core zone of the "China Sky Eye" (FAST) for visits by paying to stay at a specific hotel, and stated that if violations of regulations or discipline are found, the relevant units and responsible persons will be dealt with seriously. The announcement mentioned that some tourists reported that after paying 2,688 yuan to stay at the "China Sky Eye Guangnian Zhiwai" hotel within the core zone, they were led by a tour guide onto the "China Sky Eye" ring beam, that security checks were effectively nonexistent, and that mobile phones and other electronic devices could be carried privately for close-range photography. The incident is currently at the investigation stage, and no further handling results have been announced.
