Classification of Travel Insurance and Travel Agency Configuration Practices
旅游保险为出行兜底
On November 5, 2026, China Tourism News reported on the two components of travel insurance: travel agency liability insurance is a statutory compulsory insurance, and both the policyholder and the insured are the travel agency; travel accident insurance is voluntarily purchased by tourists and covers risks such as accidental injury, sudden acute illness, lost luggage, flight delays, and emergency international rescue. The report states that Tuniu configures insurance according to risk points along routes, with premiums usually controlled at 1% to 2% of the tour fee, and each route generally matches 3 plans with different coverage scopes and limits for tourists to choose from independently. Industry practitioners remind that travel agencies must not force bundled sales of insurance, that the tour fee and insurance fee should be listed separately in the contract when tourists sign up for a tour, and that the authenticity of the policy should be verified. The current progress is that the above classification and configuration practices have been introduced in a concentrated manner.
