On October 28, 2026, BCD Meetings & Events released a trends report, predicting that risk management will occupy a dominant position in 2027 meetings and events planning. The report states that legal, security, procurement and travel risk-related stakeholders will intervene in the planning process earlier; some organizations will protect flagship events and cut low-value meetings, while others will shift to regionalized formats and more flexible contracts. The report also mentions that "disciplined use" of artificial intelligence can streamline processes, but usage-based billing for large language models and agentic tools as well as "agent sprawl" will bring hidden costs.
