Beijing releases China's first local standard for tourism ship lock design

On October 29, 2026, the Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation approved and released the Beijing local standard "Design Guidelines for Tourism Ship Locks," China's first specialized design standard focused on tourism ship locks, filling a gap in standards in this field. The guidelines were led and chiefly drafted by the Beijing Water Planning and Research Institute, with multiple water conservancy research and design units jointly participating in drafting. Unlike traditional freight ship lock specifications, they cover all professional content including overall design, ship lock scale, water conveyance systems, and landscape and cultural integration, and adopt stricter flow velocity control indicators for water conveyance galleries than those for freight ship locks. The standard will be officially implemented on January 1, 2027.
