Study Says AI Hotel Q&A Information Is Seriously Inaccurate
How to Stop Your AI From Making Up Hotel Facts
On October 28, 2026, Lumina Frontier released test results on the information accuracy of AI hotel Q&A. The company posed 1,096 real travel questions to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, checked 3,288 answers, and found that when hotels were mentioned, their official websites appeared in the sources in only 24% of cases. The company then checked 28,437 facts across 469 hotels, of which 86% held, 7.6% conflicted between sources, and 4.9% were wrong, and on that basis proposed a five-step process of collection, structuring, refreshing, generation verification and governance, including labeling each fact with its source and validity period, reading prices in real time, and having another model check citations sentence by sentence.
