State Council General Office issues opinions on developing sports events to stimulate consumption vitality

On September 30, 2026, according to China Tourism News, the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Developing Sports Events to Stimulate Consumption Vitality," deploying 17 tasks in 5 areas, and proposed that by 2030 a modernized events system with Chinese characteristics will basically take shape, cultivating a number of sports events with world influence. The opinions require enriching the supply of competitive, professional, and amateur events, deeply tapping the integration potential of events with culture and tourism, commerce, and technology, expanding event consumption scenarios, and enhancing the consumption experience.
