STUDY: Only 18% of Customers Think Agentic AI is a Good Idea
On October 10, 2026, Hospitality Technology reported on Channel V Media's "The State of AI Adoption in America" report. The survey was based on a nationally representative questionnaire of 7,675 U.S. adults conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics, showing that only 17.6% of Americans think AI agents are a good idea, but 40.1% are willing to let AI agents handle at least one everyday task, and only 7.7% currently actually use agentic AI. Restaurant reservations (12.1%), buying groceries (11.0%) and smart home management (10.0%) are the most common uses, and 60.5% of respondents are very or extremely concerned about AI invading privacy. A follow-up report the same day reiterated the above data and pointed out that booking restaurant reservations is currently the most common agentic AI task.
