Mews Survey: 89% of Guests Want 'Invisible AI' Operating Behind the Scenes, Rejecting AI-Led Front Desks
On October 8, 2026, Hospitality Technology reported that a Mews survey of 3,250 travelers across eight countries in Europe and the United States showed that 89% of respondents preferred a hybrid model in which AI handles repetitive tasks in the background or human-first service, with almost no one wanting an AI-led front desk experience. The survey also showed that 59% of respondents believed hotels using AI for back-office administrative work could allow staff to focus on direct service; 67% worried that employees would lose their jobs due to automation, and 51% opposed layoffs solely for the purpose of deploying AI.
