Dispute Over International Flight Cuts at Mumbai Airport T2
Airlines Get More Time on Mumbai Airport Cuts — But the Move to Navi Mumbai Is Still Coming
On October 5, 2026, Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) notified airlines that starting October 25 it would cut one-third of international departures from Terminal 2 to free up space for domestic flights displaced by the reconstruction of Terminal 1, and asked carriers to specify by 4 p.m. Tuesday which flights should be adjusted. Airlines opposed this and sought government intervention. On October 7, India's Ministry of Civil Aviation asked Mumbai airport owner Adani Airport Holdings to postpone the transfer of some international flights from Mumbai Terminal 2 to Navi Mumbai Airport, so that airlines and the airport operator could formulate a transition plan.
