Autumn holiday plans implemented in multiple places drive growth in off-peak family travel

In 2026, primary and secondary school spring and autumn holidays were written into the Government Work Report for the first time. Since October, Hunan, Shandong, Guangdong and other places have successively released autumn holiday implementation plans; the mainstream model is a 2-to-4-day weekday holiday connected to the weekend to form a 4-to-6-day mini-break. Meituan data shows that recently the platform's bookings for family rooms with November check-in rose 109% year on year, among which homestay family rooms grew 158%, and the share of homestay orders with a two-night stay rose from 17% in the same period last year to 21%.
