Analysis of Accommodation Needs of Multi-Child Families and Hotel Product Adaptation

On October 8, 2026, China Tourism News reported that when multi-child families travel, the supply of hotel family rooms and suites is insufficient; the mainstream parent-child room configuration is a 1.8-meter large bed plus a 1.2-meter small bed, enough for only two adults and one child, and suite prices during peak season are often two to three times those of ordinary room types. The report proposes connecting rooms, 1.5-meter twin-bed combinations, and two-bedroom suites of more than 90 square meters as feasible renovation directions, and states that a hotel in Suzhou has increased the share of family guest orders from 20% to 55%. Ctrip's "Multi-Child Privileges" partner hotels provide free breakfast, extra beds, and children's souvenirs, valued at about 200–400 yuan. The current progress is that the industry has proposed room type renovation directions and platform privilege measures.
