Guangxi advances construction of Guilin as a world-class tourism city and scenic area rectification

On October 28, 2026, Chen Gang, Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee, used the "four noes and two direct" method to go deep into Guilin to research and supervise tourism disorder rectification, requiring high-standard and high-quality advancement of the construction of Guilin as a world-class tourism city. The report said that in 2025, Guilin's Elephant Hill Scenic Area received more than 700 million domestic and foreign tourists. Chen Gang raised requirements for the protection of Elephant Trunk Hill, including designating prohibited warning waters and advancing rescue protection of stone inscriptions, and ordered rectification of amusement facilities and commercial facilities in the scenic area that are incompatible with the natural landscape. At present, the relevant rectification requirements have been raised, and subsequent implementation progress remains to be disclosed.
