U.S. State Department issues Libya Level 4 Do Not Travel advisory

The U.S. Department of State issued a Level 4 Do Not Travel advisory for Libya due to crime, terrorism, unexploded landmines, civil unrest, kidnapping and armed conflict. Terrorist attacks may occur with little or no warning, targeting public spaces such as tourist locations, hotels and transportation hubs. Kidnapping is widespread, with victims including U.S. citizens. Unexploded landmines and ammunition are a hazard throughout Libya. Fighting among armed groups has occurred in Tripoli and other cities. The U.S. prohibits U.S. commercial aviation operations in Libyan airspace.
