U.S. State Department Raises Tanzania Travel Advisory to Level 3

The U.S. Department of State raised its travel advisory for Tanzania from Level 2 to Level 3 and added an 'unrest' risk indicator, advising travellers to reconsider travel due to unrest, crime, terrorism and targeting of gay and lesbian individuals. Some areas have increased risk. On unrest, demonstrations often occur over political or economic issues and may also take place on holidays or during large events; they can be unpredictable, and the Tanzanian government increases security presence around protests, including stationary checkpoints and roadblocks, and limits or does not authorize large gatherings.
