Panama: Level 2 Advisory, Some Areas Do Not Travel

The US State Department has issued a Level 2 advisory for Panama due to crime. Some areas have increased risk. US government employees need special authorization to travel to the Mosquito Gulf and Darién Region. Crime includes theft and residential break-ins; pickpocketing and purse snatching can occur in tourist areas. Large-scale demonstrations related to political situation may disrupt transportation. Do not travel to the Mosquito Gulf and parts of the Darién Region due to crime.
