São Tomé and Príncipe: Level 2 Advisory, Exercise Increased Caution Due to Health Risks

The U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2 travel advisory for São Tomé and Príncipe due to health risks. Medical services are limited, with no adequate trauma or ambulance services; even minor health issues may require medical evacuation at the traveler's expense. As of August 12, 2026, U.S. government employees no longer need special permission to travel there.
