U.S. State Department Issues Level 3 Travel Advisory for Tanzania

The U.S. Department of State issued a Level 3 travel advisory for Tanzania, advising travellers to reconsider travel due to unrest, crime, terrorism and targeting of gay and lesbian individuals. Some areas have increased risk. On unrest, demonstrations often occur over political or economic issues and may also take place on holidays or during large events; they can be unpredictable, and the Tanzanian government increases security presence around protests, including stationary checkpoints and roadblocks, and limits or does not authorize large gatherings.
