Chile: Level 2 Advisory, Crime and Unrest

The US State Department has issued a Level 2 advisory for Chile due to crime, unrest, and health. Petty crime like mugging, pickpocketing, and theft is common; violent crimes include assault, homicide, carjacking, and residential break-ins. Large-scale demonstrations may occur in Santiago and other cities, disrupting transportation. The CDC has issued a health notice for Andes virus (Hantavirus), but risk to most travelers is extremely low.
