Germany - Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution

The U.S. Department of State reissued its Germany travel advisory after a periodic review with updates to the Advisory Summary, keeping the country at Level 2 (Exercise Increased Caution) due to terrorism. Terrorist groups and lone actors remain a constant threat in Germany and Europe, attacking people in public locations with knives, small arms, rudimentary explosive devices, and vehicles, potentially with little or no warning. The advisory recommends being aware of surroundings, following local authorities' instructions, monitoring local media and adjusting plans, enrolling in STEP, reviewing the Country Security Report, preparing an emergency plan, and buying insurance.
