U.S. State Department: Portugal Travel Advisory Remains Level 1

The U.S. Department of State reissued its Portugal travel advisory after a periodic review, maintaining it at Level 1, which advises exercising normal precautions in Portugal. Recommendations include enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive travel alerts and make it easier to be located in an emergency; preparing a backup plan for emergency situations; reviewing the Traveler's Checklist; visiting the CDC page for the latest travel health information; and strongly recommending buying insurance before travel and checking with the travel insurance provider about evacuation assistance, medical insurance, and trip cancellation coverage.
