Daocheng Yading refutes closure rumors and strengthens control of undeveloped areas

On October 2, 2026, Kangding City and Daocheng County issued announcements strictly prohibiting unauthorized entry into the undeveloped areas of Daocheng Yading. During the National Day holiday, rumors circulated online that the scenic area was closed; subsequent reports said the scenic area was not closed, and the online "closure" actually referred to strengthened control of the undeveloped large-loop hiking route. Since August 1, 2026, the scenic area has offered free admission to visitors nationwide. For the first six days of the National Day holiday, reservations all reached the maximum carrying capacity of 15,000. On-site registration allows free entry, with no need to buy scalped tickets that were hyped up to 800 yuan. The scenic area has multiple medical service points equipped with oxygen cylinders, emergency medicines, and electrocardiogram monitors. The registration fee at Daocheng County Tibetan Medicine Hospital is only 1 yuan.
