Autumn leaf-viewing trips in Beijing's suburbs shift toward overnight economy
从“当天往返”到“多住一晚”,京郊赏秋游抢滩过夜经济
In late October 2026, autumn leaf-viewing consumption in Beijing's suburbs shifted from "same-day round trips" to "staying overnight." According to an October 29 report, as of October 27 the number of visitors viewing red leaves at the Mutianyu Great Wall reached 170,000 person-times, up 42% year on year; during the red-leaf season, the Mutianyu Great Wall Hotel's Friday and Saturday occupancy rate remained at 85%–95%, with consecutive-stay orders locking in room inventory 15–20 days in advance. Tujia data shows that the average length of stay at homestays in Beijing's suburbs reached 1.6 days, and orders with stays of two consecutive nights or more accounted for more than 30%. Current progress is an increase in the share of overnight orders and an earlier release of consecutive-stay demand.
