Meituan: Airfares on Some Popular Routes Drop by More Than 60% During National Day Holiday
On October 5, 2026, TravelDaily China and Pinchain Tourism separately reported that Meituan data showed airfares on some popular routes fell sharply during the National Day holiday. The reports said that on October 7, the average tax-inclusive fare from Shanghai to Hulunbuir was about 490 yuan, down about 76% from more than 2,000 yuan in the same period before the holiday; prices fell further after the holiday, with the average fare from Shanghai to Xishuangbanna from October 8 to 14 at about 396 yuan, a drop of about 65%, and some routes to long-haul destinations such as Lijiang, Dali, Sanya and Kunming also saw drops of 50% to 60%. During the same period, searches for "autumn viewing" on the platform increased by 96% compared with the previous week, creating an overlap between post-holiday low fares and the autumn scenery window. Pinchain Tourism also said that from October 15 to 31, the average fare from Hohhot to Dalian was about 346 yuan, down about 60% compared with before the holiday.
