Airbnb launches temporary phone numbers in US and Canada

Reported on October 28, 2026, Airbnb will issue temporary phone numbers starting October 30 in the United States and Canada to guests as well as large hosts and property managers connected via property management software, and these hosts will no longer see guests' real numbers. The temporary numbers can be used for calls and text messages from the time of booking until two days after checkout, after which calls are routed to Airbnb customer service, which decides whether to share the real number. The measure has not yet taken effect and is in the stage between announcement and taking effect.
