2026 First Three Quarters Domestic Resident Tourism Data Released

On October 26, 2026, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism released domestic resident tourism data for the first three quarters of 2026, and MCT Tourism Statistics released the same data simultaneously. The data show that in the first three quarters, domestic resident tourism trips totaled 5.307 billion, up 6.2% year on year, of which urban residents made 4.037 billion trips and rural residents made 1.270 billion trips; total domestic resident tourism spending in the same period was 4.95 trillion yuan, up 2.2% year on year, of which urban residents' tourism spending was 4.14 trillion yuan and rural residents' was 0.81 trillion yuan. On October 29, Pinchain Tourism reported further refinement, stating that tourism trips increased by 309 million compared with the same period last year, urban residents' tourism trips grew 6.6% year on year, and rural residents grew 5.1% year on year; total spending and urban and rural spending data were consistent with the earlier release. The data have now been released publicly, with no subsequent updates so far.
