Domestic route fuel surcharge to increase from October 10

Reported on October 8, 2026, China Southern Airlines and several other airlines announced that, for domestic route tickets sold from October 10 (inclusive), the fuel surcharge will be increased. For adult passengers, routes of 800 kilometers (inclusive) or less will be charged 50 yuan per flight segment, and routes over 800 kilometers will be charged 90 yuan per flight segment, an increase of 10 yuan and 20 yuan respectively compared with before the adjustment. A subsequent report the same day stated that the domestic route fuel surcharge will be increased from October 10, with a maximum one-way charge of 90 yuan. A report on October 9 further pointed out that after the National Day holiday, domestic airfare prices fell noticeably; from October 9 to 31, the average paid price of domestic air tickets was more than 30% lower than during the "Eleventh" holiday, and the lowest bare ticket prices for Beijing to Lanzhou and Shanghai to Lijiang were only 200 yuan; multiple airlines notified that from October 10 the domestic route fuel surcharge will be increased, with segments over 800 kilometers charged 90 yuan and segments of 800 kilometers (inclusive) or less charged 50 yuan, while tickets issued on or before October 9 will still follow the original standard. The current progress is that the above adjustment is about to take effect on October 10.
