National Standard for Electronic Motor Vehicle Driving License Issued

On October 22, 2026, the State Administration for Market Regulation (Standardization Administration) approved and issued the national standard "Traffic Management Electronic Certificate — Motor Vehicle Driving License" (GB/T 48269—2026), which will take effect on April 1, 2027. The report states that the standard adds authorization information such as authorized users and purpose matters, allowing motor vehicle owners to authorize others to use the electronic driving license according to business scenarios with full traceability, and that data files use the domestic SM2 cryptographic algorithm for digital signatures. The report also mentions that the earlier "Traffic Management Electronic Certificate — Motor Vehicle Driving License (Driver's License)" has been in effect since July 1, 2026.
