    Hilton Signs First Hotel in Batam, Accelerating Growth in Indonesia

    Hilton announced the signing of Hilton Garden Inn Batam City Centre, its first hotel on the island of Batam, Indonesia. Expected to open in 2028, the 199-room hotel will be located in Batam's central business district, with easy access to commercial, retail, and transportation hubs, including ferry terminals and Hang Nadim International Airport. Developed by PT. Sabang Raya Investama, the property aims to capture growing demand from corporate travel, meetings and events, leisure, and medical-related stays.

    Indonesia Deploys Amadeus Biometric Corridors at Scale in Jakarta and Surabaya

    Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration has become the first authority in the world to deploy Amadeus' biometric corridors at scale. The technology uses AI-enabled biometrics to validate passenger identities in motion through wide corridors, without stopping or presenting documents. As part of the 'All Indonesia' initiative, two corridors are deployed at Jakarta airport and one at Surabaya, initially for elderly and disabled travelers, with future plans for all passengers. During the Hajj pilgrimage, each corridor processed 30+ border crossings per minute at peak times, a more than ten-fold capacity increase over existing eGates, processing over 50,000 pilgrims.

    FCDO updates Indonesia volcano travel advice

    The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has updated its Indonesia travel advice, no longer advising against all travel to volcanoes in Indonesia and no longer advising against all travel in the event of future volcanic eruptions. The FCDO also added new information about volcanoes in Indonesia, including material from local authorities that enforce exclusion zones at a number of volcanically active sites, covered in the 'Warnings and insurance' and 'Safety and security' pages.
