    Mauritania Travel Advisory: Level 3 - Reconsider Travel

    The U.S. Department of State updated its travel advisory for Mauritania, maintaining Level 3: Reconsider Travel due to terrorism, crime, and limited health infrastructure. Some areas have increased risk. U.S. government employees are not allowed to travel outside Nouakchott at night and need special authorization to travel outside the city. Violent crime is frequent in parts of Nouakchott. There is risk of terrorist attacks. Health facilities are limited, especially in rural areas.

    Mauritania: FCDO Updates Travel Advice with Warnings

    The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has updated travel advice for Mauritania with new information about protests. FCDO advises against all travel to eastern areas, within 25km of the Malian border, and parts of provinces, and against all but essential travel near the Western Sahara border. The British Embassy in Nouakchott cannot provide consular services.
