    EU Provides €10 Million Grant for Women's Employment in MENA

    At a high-level roundtable held during the UN General Assembly, the European Commission announced a €10 million grant to create 500,000 jobs for women in the Middle East and North Africa, focusing on sectors including clean energy, climate adaptation, science and technology, and the care economy. The EU also supports micro-businesses and households through the SANAD fund, which has supported 500,000 jobs, over a third held by women. The EU said it will work with governments and regulators across the Mediterranean to improve access to finance for women and women-led businesses.

    European Commission proposes common EU rating scheme for data centres

    The European Commission has proposed a common rating scheme for data centres to increase transparency on their energy and water use and support their sustainable integration into Europe's energy system. The scheme covers individual data centres with capacity above 500 kW and also their contribution to the grid, such as waste-heat reuse, added clean-energy generation capacity and flexibility. The Commission also launched a call for evidence and public consultation on minimum performance standards for data centres, closing on 14 December 2026.     EU and Greenland Sign Joint Declaration with €200 Million Investment

    European Commission President von der Leyen visited Nuuk and signed a Joint Declaration with Greenland Premier Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, deepening cooperation on youth opportunities, connectivity, civil protection and climate action. She announced a €200 million Global Gateway Partnership Package for this year and next, focused on connectivity, clean energy and critical raw materials. A new satellite project will immediately improve internet access for communities in northern Greenland, with remote eastern communities expected to benefit by October.
