16th Yunnan Young Performers Competition Awards Gala Set for Sept 23

China Tourism News reports the 16th Yunnan Young Performers Competition awards gala will be held Sept 23 at the Yunnan Arts University experimental theater, closing a 10-day event. Founded in 1987 and now in its 16th edition, the competition grew from a single opera category into a comprehensive arts event spanning opera (drama), music (vocal and instrumental) and dance (acrobatics). This edition gathered 238 young contestants from 15 prefectures and cities, 14 universities, provincial arts units and social arts groups, held 16 final rounds, and awarded 10 first, 15 second and 25 third prizes, drawing nearly 150,000 online and offline viewers.
