China Air Transport Association calls for lawful protection of flight attendant rights

On October 5, 2026, the "China Eastern Airlines flight attendant kneeling" incident occurred. On October 10, the China Air Transport Association called for lawful protection of flight attendant rights and joint efforts to build cabin service order in response. The China Air Transport Association cited the Civil Aviation Law of the People's Republic of China, which took effect on July 1, 2026, pointing out that the law prohibits picking quarrels and provoking trouble, insulting or beating crew members on board an aircraft, and added a special section on passenger rights protection in Chapter VI. The China Air Transport Association called on member airlines to optimize on-site handling procedures for disruptive behavior on board, implement the handling principle of unified leadership by the captain and close cooperation by all personnel, and called on passengers to defend their rights rationally through legal channels such as complaints, appeals, and litigation.
