Meadin Report: 2026 Supply-Demand Analysis of Top 10 County Hotel Markets

Meadin Research released a 2026 supply-demand analysis of ten popular county-level hotel markets: Pingtan, Anji, Wuyuan, Yangshuo, Xingyi, Yining, Pingyao, Yixian, Jiuzhaigou and Jianshui. As of September 2026, the sample covered about 15,760 hotels and roughly 443,000 rooms; 4,470 hotels have opened since 2024, equal to 28.4% of existing supply, with 1,286 openings in 2026 so far, about 1.6 times the full-year 2025 figure. Expansion is shifting westward, with Yining, Xingyi and Jiuzhaigou each seeing new openings near or above 20% of local stock. Economy hotels account for about 75.4% of supply, while midscale and above account for only about 24.6%.
