SAP Concur published a blog post discussing how higher education institutions can manage spend as they return to travel post-pandemic. The article notes that the pandemic forced institutions to re-evaluate travel and expense programs and accelerated the deployment of spend management technology. It offers three recommendations: increase visibility of travel requests and needs; update policy planning and program deployment; and plan for the future. Citing the 2021 Global Business Traveler Report, 96% of respondents are willing to travel for business in the next 12 months, 52% expect the ability to choose direct flights, and 41% want to stay in four- to five-star hotels.
