Singapore to Impose Sustainable Aviation Fuel Levy from 2027

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced that a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Levy will be imposed on tickets sold from October 1, 2026, for flights departing from Singapore from January 1, 2027, applicable to all origin-destination passengers and general and business aviation flights. The levy must be shown as a distinct line item in the fare breakdown. Revenue from the levy will be channeled to a statutory SAF Fund, managed by the Singapore Sustainable Aviation Fuel Company (SAFCo), to procure SAF and related environmental attributes. The SAF Levy for cargo shipments will be deferred to tickets sold from October 1, 2027, for flights departing from January 1, 2028.
