US August Transportation PPI: Air Services Up 7.6% Year on Year

The U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported that the transportation equipment Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 2.6% from August 2025 to August 2026. Over the same 12-month period, transportation services PPI varied by mode: air +7.6%, rail +1.4%, truck +14.3%, water +16.7%, and arrangement of freight and cargo +2.2%. By comparison, all services (transportation and non-transportation) rose 5.1%, with transportation contributing 15.6% to the overall increase in the PPI for all services.
