    The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) updated its Algeria travel advice on 25 September 2026, with the latest update covering customs rules, terrorism, the political situation and personal ID. The FCDO advises against all travel within 30km of Algeria's borders with Libya, Mauritania, Mali and Niger, and with Tunisia in the provinces of Illizi and Ouargla and the Chaambi mountains area; it advises against all but essential travel within 30km of the rest of the Algeria-Tunisia border. The FCDO notes that travel insurance could be invalidated if travellers go against its advice.
