Meadin Research released its August 2026 housing rental industry development report. August saw concentrated delivery of government-subsidised rental housing, with state-owned capital continuing to dominate. Global rents diverged: the U.S. median rent was $1,390, up for a seventh straight month; Canada fell for a 23rd consecutive month to C$2,035; UK average rent was £1,382, up 4.1% year on year; Tokyo's 23 wards saw family-type listed rents of ¥263,148, up 10.9% year on year.
