    Fujian Tourism Firms and Financial Institutions Match, 29 Projects Raise 7.214 Billion Yuan

    On September 22, the 2026 Fujian cultural tourism enterprises and financial institutions matchmaking event was held in Fuzhou, with Vice Governor Jiang Erxiong speaking. The event facilitated cooperation on 29 key cultural tourism projects with total financing of 7.214 billion yuan, with funds directed toward digital cultural tourism, cultural-commercial-tourism integration, world heritage revitalization and rural cultural tourism. China Development Bank, Bank of China and Bank of Communications released special cultural tourism financing plans, and six key financing projects were presented.

    China World Heritage Photography Tour Exhibition Opens at Dongyu Island

    On September 15, the Dongyu Island stop of the National Arts Fund 2026 project 'Reading China, Beauty in All Forms — China World Heritage Photography Tour Exhibition' opened at the Boao Dongyu Island National Tourist Resort in Hainan. The tour features 100 selected works by 53 photographers, covering all 61 World Heritage sites in China, organized into four sections: Beauty of Nature, Charm of Culture, Path of Exchange, and State of Coexistence. The 2026 Boao MICE Tourism Development Conference was held concurrently. The Dongyu Island stop runs until October 14.

    Mount Tai Exhibition Opens at Shandong Museum, Runs Through December 13

    On September 14, the exhibition "Mount Tai: Eastern Great Peak, Origin of All Things" opened at the Shandong Museum. Structured around three threads—origins of belief, the Fengshan ritual and the world of faith—it traces Mount Tai's development from an ancient center of eastern worship to an imperial Fengshan altar and a popular pilgrimage site. The exhibition brings together 204 precious artifacts (sets) from 27 museums inside and outside the province, including the Mount Tai Donggengdao bronzes, the Mount Tai Palace ding and a bronze statue of Bixia Yuanjun.     Xixia Tombs See Visitor Surge After World Heritage Listing, Digital Tools Boost Heritage Tourism

    The Xixia Tombs were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List at the 47th session in Paris on 11 July 2025, becoming China's 60th World Heritage site. Over the past year, the site has enhanced visitor experiences through VR/XR immersive projects, VAR smart viewing telescopes, digital cultural products and an immersive scripted tour. Data show about one million visitors in 2025, up roughly 30% year on year, and 450,000 visitors in the first half of 2026, up 102% year on year, with out-of-province visitors accounting for 92%.
