Tuniu released its 2026 Mid-Autumn and National Day travel trend forecast, showing that booking and travel cycles for outbound and long-haul domestic trips shifted notably earlier. Families and three-generation groups accounted for over 70% of travelers; among those on National Day tours from October 1 to 7, over 35% departed before the holiday and over 10% left before Mid-Autumn to avoid crowds. Long-haul domestic travel led demand, with growing shares for independent travel and small pure-play groups, while short-haul outbound private groups were popular.
