    Visa-Free Foreign Entries Up 26.8% in First Eight Months

    According to the National Immigration Administration, from January to August 2026, border inspection authorities processed 499 million inbound and outbound trips, up 8.7% year on year. This included 242 million trips by mainland residents, 196 million by Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents, and 61.287 million by foreign nationals, up 10%, 8.9% and 19.5% respectively. Visa-free foreign entries reached 23.72 million, accounting for 77.6% of total foreign entries and up 26.8% year on year. The administration said it will continue to promote immigration policy innovation and optimize border inspection models.

    Shenzhen Port Foreign Entries-Exits Exceed 5 Million

    As of August 4, foreign entries and exits through Shenzhen ports exceeded 5 million this year, 58 days earlier than last year. During summer, orders from European tourists to Shenzhen increased by 36.38%, hotel orders by 61.93%, and tickets and activities orders surged by 300% and 750% respectively. In the first half of the year, foreign arrivals nationwide reached 22.914 million.
