US Ultra-Low-Cost Carriers Seek Jet Fuel Tax Holiday as Costs Soar
US ultra-low-cost carriers are renewing efforts through trade group Association of Value Airlines to engage lawmakers in Washington on relief from rising jet fuel prices via a tax holiday. The group represents Allegiant, Frontier Airlines, Avelo Air and Breeze Airways. Executive director Jonathon Freye said the group has contacted several congressional offices but has received no indication Congress would consider such a measure. Some airline executives expect more capacity cuts and higher fares.
