Regent Hotels & Resorts to Debut in French Polynesia with Regent Bora Bora Signing

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with long-standing partner Pacific Beachcomber to transform the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa into Regent Bora Bora, marking Regent Hotels & Resorts' debut in French Polynesia. The resort closed on 1 June 2026 for extensive renovations and will reopen as Regent Bora Bora in late 2027 with 84 villas in an exclusively overwater setting on a private motu overlooking Mount Otemanu. The property will retain the world's first seawater air-conditioning system, which has cut the electricity otherwise required for air conditioning and refrigeration by around 90%.
