MCT Releases 2023 Statistical Communiqué on Culture and Tourism Development

The Finance Department of China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism released the 2023 Statistical Communiqué on Culture and Tourism Development on August 30, 2024. At end-2023 there were 56,275 travel agencies, with full-year revenue of RMB 444.27 billion and operating profit of RMB 3.74 billion. There were 8,253 star-rated hotels, with full-year revenue of RMB 160.9 billion, an average room rate of RMB 370.8 per room-night, and average occupancy of 50.7%. There were 15,721 A-level scenic areas, receiving 5.75 billion visits and generating RMB 406.87 billion in tourism revenue.
